My Commitment To Sustainability
Not only do I wish to create a site that creates invaluable resources for gamers around the world. I also want to do my part to help the publishers of these games see that the content they create is appreciated and desired by putting my money where my mouth is.
My Storage Problem
So if there is one thing you need to know it's that, when creating this site, I hope to be able to find and buy new board games (new at least to me, looking at you Twilight Imperium). But! The other thing you need to know is that I have no room for a huge library of cardboard boxes filled with wonder (as amazing as that would be). I also have no desire though to house games that never get played. To me that's kind of a waste of what they are made for!
The Publishing Problem
It's all over board game news these days. Publishing games has gotten exponentially more expensive for publishers If you want to know more checkout this article on Time.com, or this video podcast about the shipping crisis with the marketing manager from Panasaurus Games and the founder of Druid City Games.
With shipping costs not expected to fall to pre-pandemic levels and companies unwilling to hike prices or charge full price for shipping, each new game they want to make comes with a higher price tag that makes each endeavor start with a "will this even be worth it?", and I hate thinking about them having to make that choice.
My Solution
To help be a part of the solution and not the problem, I have a few key things I want to make sure readers of this site know about my process.
- If possible, when I buy a new game with the budget from this site, I will buy directly from the publisher.
- I will be giving away hte purchased game (after I review it (obviously 😜) and make an insert for it which will be included!)*
With this I hope to not gain a huge collection, provide support for the game creators I/we (you're in this too!) love, and enjoy giving new games to people who love games as much as I do. I hope you'll join me in this journey to help keep the gaming community healthy and vibrant as it always has been!
